FAQs about PoKemon IV Calculator

What are IVs in Pokémon GO?

IVs (Individual Values) are hidden stats for Attack, Defense, and Stamina, ranging from 0 to 15. Unlike CP, which can change, IVs are fixed. They determine a Pokémon's maximum potential strength. A Pokémon with 15/15/15 IVs is a "Perfect" or "100% IV" Pokémon.

How can I catch 100% IV Pokémon (Hundos)?

Finding a 100% IV Pokémon in the wild is extremely rare (1 in 4,096 chance). The most efficient method is to use live coordinate maps (like NYC PokeMap) to find their location, and then use PoKeep Location Changer to teleport to those coordinates instantly.

Do IVs matter for PvP Battle League?

Yes, but higher isn't always better! For Master League, you want 100% IVs. However, for Great and Ultra Leagues, the ideal IV spread usually has low Attack and high Defense/Stamina (e.g., 0/15/15). This allows you to power up the Pokémon to a higher level while staying under the CP cap, resulting in greater overall bulk.

Is this IV Calculator safe to use?

Yes, absolutely. This is a manual calculator that does not require you to log in to your Pokémon GO account. It works independently of the game app, so there is zero risk of your account being flagged or banned for using it.

What is the difference between Shadow and Purified IVs?

Shadow Pokémon have a 20% attack bonus but 20% less defense. When you Purify a Shadow Pokémon, each of its IV stats (Attack, Defense, Stamina) increases by +2. This means a 13/13/13 Shadow Pokémon will become a 100% IV (15/15/15) Purified Pokémon.

How do I use this IV Calculator?

Select the Pokémon, then enter the CP and HP from its summary screen. If the game shows a Stardust cost for the next Power Up, choose that same number under Power Up Stardust—it pins the Pokémon’s level so fewer IV combinations remain. Set Regular, Shadow, or Purified to match the Pokémon, then select Calculate IV. Treat the first result row as the primary match. After that, open the Evolution, Pokédex, or PvP tabs for family costs, types, moves, counters, and league ranks.

What is Power Up Stardust, and do I have to enter it?

Power Up Stardust is the amount shown for the next Power Up at the Pokémon’s current level—not the Stardust you have in your bag. Shadow Pokémon show a 20% higher cost; Purified Pokémon show a 10% discount. The field is optional. Filling it in usually leaves a much shorter IV list. If you skip it, the table still lists every combination that fits the CP and HP you entered.

Why do I see more than one IV combination? Which row is mine?

CP and HP alone can match several Attack, Defense, and Stamina spreads at different levels. The first row is the primary match for the numbers you entered. Other rows still fit the same CP, HP, and Stardust. Click a row if you want the Evolution and PvP tabs to use that IV spread instead.

What do the Evolution, Pokédex, and PvP tabs show?

Evolution projects the selected IVs across the family at a target level and totals the Stardust, Candy, and XL Candy needed to power up from the current level. Pokédex shows types, weaknesses, forms, fast and charged moves, movesets, and the top 10 counters. PvP ranks that IV spread for Great, Ultra, and Master League. The IV tab remains the combination list.

How are Top Counters ranked?

The Pokédex tab runs a 100-second battle simulation using type matchups and STAB (same-type attack bonus). It lists the 10 strongest attackers against this Pokémon and the fast / charged pair used. Mega and Primal forms are not included in that list.
