No separate Primal Kyogre is caught after a Primal Raid. Primal Reversion ends before the catch encounter, so the Pokémon on the catch screen is a regular Kyogre.

Primal Kyogre is much more difficult than regular Kyogre. A prepared group should generally aim for at least six strong Trainers, while groups with average counters should bring more.

Surf remains a good temporary move if you do not have an Elite Charged TM. The performance gap is meaningful, but a high-level Surf Kyogre can still defeat Fire-, Ground-, and Rock-type raid bosses effectively.

Can Kyogre Learn Origin Pulse With a Normal Charged TM?

Origin Pulse is a legacy attack. It is normally available only through an Elite Charged TM or during an event that specifically allows Kyogre to learn it. A normal Charged TM cannot currently teach Origin Pulse.

An Elite Charged TM is most justified when the Kyogre has strong IVs and will be used regularly for raids or Primal Reversion. It is less urgent for a secondary Kyogre that already has Surf.

Current PvP simulations place regular Kyogre around Rank 11 in the open Master League. Rankings can move after balance updates, but Kyogre remains a serious top-level option rather than a niche Water Pokémon.

Is a Second Charged Attack Worth It for Kyogre?

A second Charged Attack is highly valuable for Master League because Kyogre needs both affordable coverage and a powerful closing move. Using only Origin Pulse leaves it slow and predictable, while using only Avalanche prevents it from fully exploiting its Water typing.

For raid-only use, unlocking a second Charged Attack is optional. Origin Pulse alone is enough for its main Water-attacker role.

The first Primal Reversion costs 400 Primal Energy. An immediate repeat Reversion is listed at 80 Energy, but the cost decreases as the rest period progresses and can eventually fall to zero.

How Primal Levels Work

Primal Kyogre increases its own battle performance and provides an attack boost to other Trainers during a raid. All attacks receive a boost, with a larger bonus applied when the attack type matches Primal Kyogre’s associated weather effect.

Once Frustration has been removed, it does not return. Origin Pulse still requires an Elite Charged TM unless a separate event specifically makes the move available.

Should You Purify Shadow Kyogre?

Purification improves each IV by two points, reduces upgrade costs, removes the Shadow damage bonus and penalty, and teaches Return. A purified Kyogre can also undergo Primal Reversion because it is no longer a Shadow Pokémon.

For raid-focused accounts, keeping a strong Shadow Kyogre is usually more valuable because regular Kyogre can be obtained separately for Primal Reversion. Purification becomes more reasonable when it creates a hundo, resources are severely limited, or you value a single Primal candidate more than Shadow raid damage.

Do not purify automatically. Compare the Shadow Kyogre with the regular Kyogre already in your collection before making an irreversible decision.

Shiny Kyogre in Pokémon GO

Shiny Kyogre is available in Pokémon GO. Its normal deep-blue body changes to a vivid pink or magenta, making it easy to recognize on the catch screen.

Shiny Primal Kyogre changes much more dramatically, taking on a black body with bright glowing markings during Primal Reversion. You still need to catch a Shiny Kyogre first and collect enough Primal Energy to transform it.
